After buying an item or after the auction closes, paying promptly will help ensure that you get your item as soon as possible. If you have any questions about how to pay your seller, contact the seller directly through our messaging system. Send funds directly to a seller from a verified bank account or from a credit card

  • If you pay by credit card, you don't need a PayPal account to pay for an item.
  • Sellers don't see your credit card number (it is safely encrypted through PayPal's server), which limits the risk of unauthorized use.
  • Automatic payment tracking.

Payment made by credit card through the seller's merchant account
  • Multiple payment options: Stripe, Square, Google Wallet recommended.
  • Immediate and convenient.
  • Traceable from sender to receiver.
  • Credit card companies offer chargeback resolutions in case something goes wrong.

Instant transfers

Payment is instantly transferred from one account to another
  • The buyer can use multiple services such as Serve and Dwolla to transmit payment..
  • The seller typically have access to funds via debit card or instant EFT transfer

  • May take several days to clear funds for new accounts, or require a deposit into the account to make a transfer.
  • Do not usually offer FDIC banking protections for funds.
Personal or Cashier's Checks
  • Traceable to a particular mailing address.
  • Provides proof of payment.
  • Most banks offer a stop payment service if problems arise before the check is cashed.

  • Sellers must wait for funds to clear.
  • Extremely difficult to recover in cases of fraud.
Money Orders
  • Traceable to a particular mailing address.
  • Provides proof of payment.
  • Some services offer the option to stop payment if problems arise before the payment is cashed, but you don't always have this option.

Bank to Bank Wire Transfer
  • Payment is sent directly from one recognized bank account to another account.
  • Immediate and convenient.
  • Payment is deposited directly into the seller's account.

Instant Cash Wire Transfer (such as Western Union & MoneyGram)
  • Quest does not allow the use of instant cash wire transfer services. If you suspect a seller is insisting on payment through an instant cash wire transfer, please decline to use it and report the seller to us.
Note:
  • Difficult to identify and designate recipient.
  • Not traceable.
  • Generally, no recourse is available if the item is not delivered as promised, even if you used your credit card to send the payment.

Negative Cash
  • Quest allows, but does not recommend paying with cash unless you know your seller. While sellers may offer this option, they cannot require you to pay this way. If you suspect a seller may be trying to commit fraud by insisting on payment only by cash, please decline and report the seller to us.

  • No way to prove payment was made.
  • No protection against loss or theft in the mail.
